Tourism plays a major role in our community, especially being the port dock for the S.S. Badger Carferry. The City of Manitowoc joined with the City of Two Rivers 10 years ago to market our area collaboratively. Both cities provide funding to the Manitowoc Area Visitor and Convention Bureau which is dedicated to bringing more tourism to our area. Over the past few years we have seen a growth in tourism spending and I contribute a large portion of that growth to our partnership and cooperative efforts with Two Rivers and the MAVCB. I continue to support these partnerships and will continue to if re-elected. Here are the numbers for Manitowoc County for annual visitor spending.
- 2011: $105,000,000 (PGA year)
- 2012: $100,800,000
- 2013: $107,100,000
- 2014: 111,000,000
- 2015: $115,300,000 (PGA year)

My goal over the past few years has been to start providing funding to organizations that already market our community in markets outside of our area. This is why I created the Discover Manitowoc Grant Program which is a funding program that entities throughout the community can apply for, specifically for marketing dollars. $25,000 was dedicated in 2016 with a majority of those dollars going toward SubFest, which drew thousands of people from outside our area to Downtown Manitowoc.
Other items that I have budgeted for have included; bike racks for downtown, the ice skating rink, murals, welcome signs, and pedestrian safety signage downtown.
